Lancaster Leaf manages Universal’s dark air cured tobacco operations in all relevant traditional dark air-cured origins. Operations in Lancaster, PA. consist of a processing facility, storage facility, and main office which also houses Universal’s dark air cured regional headquarters. The Company also has a cutting/flavoring line in the Dominican Republic. Lancaster Leaf supplies virtually all of the major cigar manufacturers in the U.S. with filler, binder, and wrapper from the U.S. and other origins. In addition to domestic supply, Lancaster exports filler, binder, and wrapper to international cigar manufacturers. Lancaster Leaf contracts directly with farmers in all dark air cured growing regions of the U.S. which include Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky.

As an Industrial Plumber at Lancaster Leaf Tobacco Company, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient plumbing maintenance and repairs throughout the facility and maintenance of high- and low-pressure boilers. This dual role requires a strong understanding of the building plumbing and boiler systems, along with safety procedures set forth by the company.
What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)
- Install, maintain, and repair water, gas, hydraulics and drainage systems throughout the facility.
- Troubleshoot and repair plumbing leaks, clogs, and other issues.
- Install and maintain plumbing fixtures, such as faucets, sinks, toilets, and water heaters.
- Perform preventative maintenance on plumbing systems to ensure proper function and prevent future problems.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, both in the boiler room and at plumbing job sites.
- Follow building codes and safety regulations related to plumbing work.Â
- Operate and maintain high- and low-pressure steam and hot water boilers and associated equipment (e.g., pumps, valves, burners).
- Monitor boiler operations, including water levels, pressure, and temperature.
- Perform regular inspections and preventative maintenance on boiler systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair boiler system malfunctions, including mechanical and control issues.
- Perform water quality testing and chemical treatment.
- Maintain accurate records of boiler operations and maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols related to boiler operations.Â
- Respond to emergency situations involving plumbing systems.
- Collaborate with other maintenance staff to ensure efficient facility operations.
- Maintain accurate records and logs of all work performed.Â

Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Journeyman‘s Plumber License and associated completed apprenticeship/coursework.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing systems and practices, including installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Experience operating and maintaining boilers and related equipment, preferably in an industrial or commercial setting.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and diagnosing problems with plumbing and general boiler systems.
- Familiarity with water treatment processes and chemical handling.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor, including lifting and working in confined spaces.

Preferred Requirements
- Master Plumber License: Official state or local municipal license proving competency to work independently or run crews.Â
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30: Essential safety training for heavy industrial and manufacturing worksites.
- Backflow Prevention Certification: Authorizes testing and maintenance of cross-connection control devices.
