SUMMARY DESCRIPTION AND SKILLS:

The Materials Manager will supervise materials planning, shipping, purchasing, and production and inventory control functions for assigned area. This position is measured by Materials targets to improve and key performance indicators as defined by the plant's policy deployment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead, develop and train Purchasing, Shipping and Production Planners to ensure proper materials coverage for all product lines, and all purchasing and planning procedures are performed within standard work and sufficient to ensure on time delivery of work orders and purchased parts.
  • Serve as a liaison for customer service, sales and manufacturing operations for production planning. Interface accordingly with all appropriate departments and individuals to ensure open communications for resolution of materials needs.
  • Responsible for coordination of new product introduction and product changes from Marketing, Sales and the ECO process through Purchasing and Production as required.
  • Understanding key cost drivers for the plant and find ways to eliminate waste, simplify processes and reduce variability.
  • Extract data and develop metrics both facilitate/drive business decision and to identify trends and coordinate demand forecasting.
  • Support all financial goals as well as development of continuous improvement plans to take areas to the next level and improve overall efficiency.
  • Responsible for critical parts planning and maintaining inventory levels to meet customer demands at a high level
  • Ensure that the cycle count programs are maintained and effective.
  • Oversee & actively participate in the use of "lean manufacturing tools" to support continuous improvement throughout Kaizen efforts.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors' degree, concentrations include: Business or Supply Chain. APICS certification preferred.
  • Must have at least five years' of relevant and progressive Operations experience with demonstrated proficiency in Project Management, Statistical Analysis and Change Management.
  • Knowledge of a variety of materials and/or supply chain competencies, including but not limited to; ERP/MRP, demand pull systems, Kanban, inventory control, financial analysis, expediting, lean manufacturing, JIT, MRP, MS Office, safety stock, VMI, UPS WorldShip, etc.
  • Must have minimum five (5) years' experience supervising exempt and non-exempt individual contributors.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, problem-solving & decision making skills.
  • Read, write, and verbally communicate in English.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Experience with Oracle, SAP or similar inventory control system.
