POSITION SUMMARY:
Adhering to System Values, Service Excellence and Standards of Behavior, the primary responsibility of this role is to perform and assist with diagnostic cardiac and neurology studies, ensuring compliance with hospital, departmental, regulatory, and industry standards. Key responsibilities include conducting electrocardiograms (EKGs), facilitating ambulatory cardiac monitoring (ZIO), assisting in cardiac exercise studies, and performing electroencephalographs (EEGs). While venipuncture skills are beneficial, they are not mandatory. The role requires flexibility in work hours to accommodate patient care needs.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• HS Diploma

Licensure:

• All employees and contracted staff will have either successful completion of an American Heart Association* accredited course in Basic Life Support (BLS), or ACLS and PALS combined. (for clinical staff), Heartsaver CPR AED (for nonclinical staff), and renewal on a regular basis.

Skills:

• Basic knowledge of medical terminology is necessary.

• Judgment and analytical skills must be honed to identify potential patient issues from the tests performed.
• Must be capable of notifying primary healthcare providers of any abnormalities detected during procedures.
• Basic rhythm recognition skills to be acquired within 6 months of hiring.
• Proficiency in typing and basic computer skills.

Work Experience:

• Previous experience in patient care and customer service is required.
• On-the-job training under the supervision of an experienced clinician is acceptable to develop necessary competencies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Perform and assist with electrocardiograms (EKGs) with accuracy and attention to detail.
2. Facilitate ambulatory cardiac monitoring processes, specifically ZIO monitoring.
3. Assist in conducting cardiac exercise studies, ensuring patient safety and accurate data collection.
4. Conduct electroencephalograph (EEG) procedures according to established protocols.
5. Maintain a flexible work schedule to respond to varying patient care needs.
6. Demonstrate proficiency in basic medical terminology and rhythm recognition within specified training periods.
7. Exhibit strong judgment and analytical skills in detecting and responding to abnormal test results.
8. Communicate effectively with primary healthcare providers regarding patient test outcomes and potential issues.
9. Offer excellent customer service and patient care, maintaining a professional demeanor.
10. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
11. Manage and maintain diagnostic equipment, ensuring proper function and cleanliness.
12. Document test results and patient interactions accurately in medical records.
13. Collaborate with healthcare team members to promote optimal patient outcomes.
14. Adhere to hospital and departmental policies, as well as regulatory and industry standards.
