The role requires a strong understanding of meal service, including taking and accurately fulfilling resident meal selections, describing menu offerings, plating and delivering meals promptly, and providing friendly, respectful customer service. Wait Staff are also expected to maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, sanitation, and presentation throughout the dining and food service areas. Success in this position requires reliability, teamwork, attention to detail, and a consistent commitment to resident safety and well-being. Staff are responsible for maintaining clean and hazard-free work areas, properly washing and storing dishes and utensils, preparing dining areas and place settings, following dress code, attendance, and safety policies, and assisting coworkers as needed. Take and accurately fulfill resident meal selections while maintaining knowledge of menu offerings and ingredients. Provide residents with friendly, courteous, and responsive customer service. Deliver meals to residents promptly and accurately as ordered. Plate and prepare resident meals, including soup, bread, salad, dessert, and beverages. Set up tables, carts, dining rooms, and place settings according to departmental standards. Distribute and collect menus and assist with verifying the accuracy of menu selections and meal preparation. Assist with daily cleaning schedules and maintain dining rooms, serving pantries, food preparation areas, dish rooms, and other assigned workspaces. Sweep, vacuum, and mop as directed while keeping work areas clean, dry, organized, and free of hazards. Perform dishwashing and sanitation procedures for dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and other food service equipment. Transport soiled utensils and dishes to the appropriate wash area and return clean items to their proper storage locations. Maintain adequate supplies of dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and other necessary items for each meal and the following meal service. Remove garbage and trash promptly and maintain a safe and sanitary work environment. Assist other staff members as needed or directed to support efficient meal service. Perform other duties as assigned. Consistently adhere to the facility's dress code and time and attendance policies. Practice safe work habits and follow all facility safety procedures. Consistently support and protect the safety, security, dignity, and well-being of residents.   Key Requirements Other: Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must possess the ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established departmental procedures. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully and respectfully with residents, families, visitors, staff, supervisors, and the general public. Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm when interacting with residents and coworkers. Must be able to provide friendly, courteous, and compassionate customer service to residents. Must be able to communicate effectively with staff members and other department supervisors. Maintains a positive rapport with residents and their families while supporting their dignity, safety, security, and well-being. Must be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Must be willing and able to assist other staff members as needed or directed. Must attend and participate in required continuing education and training programs. Must follow all facility policies and procedures, including dress code, time and attendance, sanitation, and safety requirements. Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.   Physical and Sensory Requirements: Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, and carry items as required to perform essential job duties. Must be able to safely transport dishes, trays, utensils, food service items, and other supplies. Must be able to perform cleaning, dishwashing, sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping duties as assigned. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position. Must be able to communicate effectively with residents and coworkers in a busy dining and food service environment. Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility. Must be able to safely perform assigned duties while maintaining a clean, dry, and hazard-free work environment.   Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in food service, dining services, hospitality, healthcare, senior living, or long-term care preferred. Experience working with residents, seniors, or individuals in a healthcare or residential setting preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact courteously and compassionately with residents, families, visitors, and staff. Ability to accurately take and fulfill resident meal selections and provide basic information regarding menu offerings. Ability to follow established food service, sanitation, cleaning, and safety procedures. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Must possess good organizational skills and attention to detail. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with various personalities and exhibit maturity and professionalism. Must demonstrate reliability, punctuality, teamwork, and a commitment to providing quality service to residents.
