Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY
This person will perform skilled and semi-skilled grounds maintenance related to County Park operations and County support services providing a clean and safe environment for park visitors.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
This person will report to the Grounds Superintendent, position #00500293, at the park location.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Mow grass, cut brush, trim weeds, mulch bed areas, assist with planting of trees and annuals, paint
Basic janitorial work in public restrooms, pavilions and facilities, including the County pool
Ability to comprehend daily facility schedule
Operate hand and power tools including leaf blower, weed eater, power washer, etc.
Assist in loading and hauling trash and recyclables
Assist with weekend work at the County pool
Safely operate a pickup truck
Ability to follow County and Departmental Policies and Procedures
Must be able to work weekends (Saturday and Sunday)
OTHER SPECIFIC TASKS OR DUTIES
Assist with facility needs as directed
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED required
Experience working outdoors preferred
Experience using basic hand tools preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to follow oral and written instruction
Ability to work well with minimum supervision
Ability to work well alone or with others
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/CLEARANCES
Must have and maintain a valid PA Driver's License with an acceptable driving record in accordance with County policy and submit to driving record background check
Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Ability to lift 75 pounds to waist height, 50 pounds to shoulder height, and 40 pounds above the head
Ability to climb a ladder to a working height of 20 feet
Must be able to traverse uneven terrain for long distances
This position has been identified as having the potential for exposure to Hepatitis B. Access to training and a voluntary vaccination against Hepatitis B is provided.
Ability to perform strenuous tasks over extended periods of time
Ability to stoop, bend from the waist and reach overhead frequently, and for extended periods of time
Must be willing to work outdoors in all types of weather
This position requires wearing a supplied t-shirt with an FM logo during working hours
This position requires wearing long pants; shorts are NOT permitted
This position requires the use of closed toe and closed back shoes that support the ankle
