The Managing Director of Real Estate, Facilities Management and Workplace Services will oversee the real estate needs, strategic and operational management of contracted 3rd party entities facilities, to include a multi-state human services organization. This critical executive role will support property site selection, acquisition, development, lease negotiations and administration, and directly oversee strategic facility planning, design, construction, facility operations and maintenance, emergency management and sustainability initiatives. Additionally, the Managing Director will collaborate with other senior leaders to develop and execute workplace strategies to enhance employee engagement and operational efficiency, ensuring all facilities adhere to regulatory compliance standards. This senior leader will be a proven strategic thinker whose primary responsibility is to ensure that all facilities meet the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and functionality.
Job Specific Functions
Partner with contracted 3rd party entities to:
- Build an organization that supports the lifecycle management of real estate portfolio from space need analysis to property acquisition and development to lease management and final disposition.
- Direct facility master planning and multi-year capital improvement plan.
- Ensure timely, budget conscious, and quality driven completion of facility design and construction projects.
- Manage facility budgets, financial forecasts, vendor contracts and relationships to optimize cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with executive leadership, clinical teams, and key stakeholders to align facility operations with organizational goals and objectives.
- Lead a team of facility managers and staff to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
- Mentor, develop and direct facility management and workplace services teams.
- Monitor and evaluate facility performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes to inform facility planning and decision-making.
- Foster productive relationships with all stakeholders and leaders as well as contractors, vendors, real estate professionals and regulatory agencies.
- Identify and secure new locations for lease or purchase.
- Negotiate lease renewals, acquisitions, dispositions, and other real estate transactions.
- Provide market analysis and strategic real estate recommendations.
- Coordinate facility planning, renovations, and project scope for new and existing locations.

The Ideal Candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Facilities Management, Healthcare or Social Service is required.
- 10+ years of experience in facilities management, or real estate, or space planning, with at least 5 years of progressive leadership experience. Degree in Facilities Management, Real Estate, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field with experience in healthcare or social services sector preferred; master’s degree strongly preferred.
- 5-10 years Managerial experience.
- Must have a comprehensive knowledge of the ADA, regulatory requirements, building codes, and safety standards relevant to healthcare facilities.
- Proven record of successfully managing extensive and geographically diverse property portfolios, annual operating and capital budgets, and design and construction projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated proficiency with facility management technology and construction project management tools.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to think strategically, solve complex problems, and make data-driven decisions to drive operational excellence.
