Job Summary
The Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) is classified as an auxiliary worker in accordance with the Nursing Practice Act and Standards Rules and Regulations for the Practice of Nursing. Â These are non-licensed workers who may perform basic nursing services for patients as delegated by and under the direct supervision of the professional nurse. Â The activities contributing to the delivery of nursing care is limited to providing personal hygiene, comfort, safety, and protection. Â Non-nursing support functions are also included in role expectations. Â
Essential Functions
- The CNA must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served in his/her department
- The individual must acquire and/or demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span
- He/she must be able to provide care with consideration of developmental status
- Employees must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions
- Can get along with co-workers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes
- Perform work activities requiring negotiating, instructing, supervising, persuading, or speaking with others
- Respond appropriately to constructive feedback from a supervisor
Licenses/Certifications
- Current CNA certification listed on the State Nurse Aide Registry
- Current BLS on first day or to be assigned by the Learning Center
