Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI) seeking a Chief Computer Scientist. The successful candidate will provide support in developing AI-based technologies related to Earth Systems modeling and advancing the TerraHydro Digital Twin platform. This includes, but is not limited to, systems engineering, development of Python-based tools and software solutions, and maintenance and operation of the live system. 


Primary Responsibilities:

To oversee and work as part of a team of data and computer scientist developing an AI-based terrestrial Digital Twin:

  • Development of the TerraHydro Python-based Digital Twin framework, models, and live system.
  • Contribute insight into software design and implement and develop new features.
  • Explore new algorithms and methodologies for data driven hydrometeorology including but not limited to coupling strategies, data assimilation, and time-series modeling.
  • Present and publish when appropriate at international conferences and high-impact scientific journals.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MS in STEM-related major, with at least 10+ years working experience in the Earth Systems modeling.
  • Experience in the development, maintenance, and operation of large Earth Information Systems.
  • Experience managing and maintaining Gitlab dev ops.
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
  • Ability to meet NASA IT security requirements and to obtain a NASA badge.
  • Must be a self-starter, have excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience using HPC cluster and Amazon Web Services.
