The Federal Work Study (FWS) program is intended to provide a meaningful job experience, with direct supervision, that complements and reinforces the recipient’s educational program and/or career goals.  Outcomes from the Federal Work Study program include: Â

POSITION: Federal Work Study – Biology and Natural Sciences
DEPARTMENT:Â Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics
Â
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Aid the lab coordinator in preparing and setting up laboratory exercises
- Maintain a clean and organized lab spaceÂ
- Prepare solutions and culture mediaÂ
- Assist with maintenances and care of fish and plants in the aquaponic gardenÂ
- Assist with construction and preparation of grow beds or other aquaponic garden structuresÂ
- Perform minor clerical dutiesÂ
- Assist with creating hallway displays and other related projectsÂ
- Complete the Federal Work Study orientation

REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be eligible for Federal Work-Study and enrolled full time at the University of Saint Mary
- Interest in the sciencesÂ
- The ability to follow directions and protocols
- The ability to work independently and take initiativeÂ
- A team player with strong communication skillsÂ
- Accuracy and attention to detailÂ
- Computer skills or a willingness to learnÂ
- Ability to appropriately handle confidential informationÂ
