Job Overview: Are you detail-oriented and proactive about maintenance? We’re looking for a dedicated Preventative Maintenance Technician for second shift to support our property. This role is essential in maintaining a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for all guests and team members through routine preventative maintenance and basic repairs.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine preventative maintenance throughout the property.
- Repair and program the hotel’s electronic lock system.
- Assist with HVAC system checks and basic troubleshooting.
- Address guest requests and maintenance issues promptly.
- Conduct scheduled inspections of safety systems (fire extinguishers, exit lighting, etc.).
- Track and log maintenance activities and completed work orders in the property management system.
- Report any unsafe conditions to the Chief Engineer.
- Complete necessary safety training and certifications.
- Maintain all engineering/maintenance storage areas.
- Oversee the maintenance of the indoor pool and spa.
- Perform general upkeep of the grounds.
- Clean and maintain hotel floors as assigned.
- Follow company procedures for handling emergency situations.
- Assist in other areas of the hotel as needed.
Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Familiarity with plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Time management and prioritization skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional guest service skills.
- Basic computational skills (addition, subtraction, division).
- Understanding of terminology, equipment, and tools used in maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Awareness of OSHA safety regulations.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws, ordinances, codes, and rules.
- Willingness to pursue necessary courses and certifications to enhance skills and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
Physical Demands:
- Work in both indoor and outdoor environments; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, and various weather conditions.
- Extensive mobility; able to work up to 8 hours at a time.
- Ability to position oneself to complete daily duties.
- Handle tools and machinery requiring fine motor coordination.
- Climb to unusual heights on ladders.
- Transport and maneuver weights up to 50 pounds continuously and equipment weighing up to 250 pounds frequently.
Requirements
Qualifications and Requirements:
A high school or equivalent education is preferred. Technical training at an accredited junior college or technical center is preferred.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings are required.
Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with Crowne Plaza Lansing rules and regulations for the safe and effective operations of the Hotel’s facilities. Associates who violate Hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including, separation from employment.
