TLC also partners with school districts, universities, hospitals, police departments, and other nonprofit organizations, providing consultation to secure federal and state grant funding Position Summary:  The Parenting Time Support Worker will provide supervised parenting time for families referred by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Services will be conducted in homes and the community based on the needs and preferences of the families. Duties & Responsibilities:   •  Work with custodial parent(s)/guardian/foster parent(s) and visiting parent(s) to develop a mutually agreed upon schedule for supervised parenting time. •  Assess visiting parents to identify their strengths and areas needing improvement to identify underlying issues and risk factors that resulted in the placement of their children outside of the home. •  Assist parents in developing the skills necessary to create a safe, supportive, caring home environment that will support the reunification of the family •  Work with parents and children to support their emotional needs before, during, and following parenting time visitation sessions •  Provide coaching and advice to parents during the parenting time visitation session while ensuring that the parent leads the visit. •  Connect families to supportive services •  Provide crisis intervention, where necessary •  Improve family functioning, including the development of coping skills to manage crises. •  Maintain satisfactory services to the children and family. •  Document all parenting time sessions using the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ forms. •  Oversee gathering and reporting of information for data reporting as required by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. •  Maintain timely communication with the Senior Vice President, Community Based Department, and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. •  Attend in-person and virtual phone-based meetings when requested by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Skills & Knowledge:  •  Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. •  Ability to manage an individual caseload while working on a program team. •  Proficient in family support and instruction interventions •  Knowledge of and ability to access community resources •  Ability to communicate clearly with parents, children, and partner •  Understanding of the child welfare system Education and Experience:   •  Bachelor’s degree in social work, family ecology, family and/or child development, or related field. •  Two (2) years of experience working with families with issues such as parenting, children, household management, nutrition, and budgeting. •  Trained in the Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). •  Experience working collaboratively with community-based organizations and government entities. •  Experience providing direct services to children and families. •  Experience with crisis intervention.
