Capital Area Michigan Works! is seeking a Special Projects Liaison to help develop, launch, and manage grant-funded initiatives that support workforce development efforts across our region. The Special Projects Liaison works across a variety of grant-funded initiatives, helping to develop proposals, coordinate partnerships, track outcomes, and support innovative projects that advance CAMW!'s mission. POSITION SUMMARY
The Special Projects Liaison has primary responsibilities for the operation of special grant projects, including but not limited to, those through the Southeast Michigan Community Alliance (SEMCA), which serves as the fiscal entity for the Workforce Intelligence Network (WIN), as well as specific state and locally funded grant programs that CAMW! administers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads grant writing and implementation for special programs and proposals.
- Supports Request for Proposal (RFP) processes, including identifying special projects program sub-recipients, as needed.
- Leads writing of required local policy plans and policies for special grant projects.
- Assists in contract writing for special project programs, as needed.
- Facilitates program design with CAMW! leadership and sub-recipients, as needed.
- Coordinates with the CAMW! Business Services Team for outreach and identification of potential employer partners, as well as training providers, to ensure that special grant project outcomes are achieved.
- Identifies target populations for education, employment, and training as required under the special grant projects.
- Organizes tracking and reporting of performance and service outcomes for each special project.
- Compiles grant reports demonstrating grant progress and performance metrics adherence.
- Attends and represents CAMW! at executive leadership meetings regarding special grant projects.
What We're Looking For
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree or at least two-four years of work experience in human resources, business, education, psychology, or related social science area is required.
- Work experience with workforce development program experience is preferred.
- Business Solutions Professional (BSP) Certification is preferred.
- Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and, PowerPoint) and/or Google applications, databases, and websites is required.
- Experience using Salesforce.com is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures or government regulations.
- Ability to write grants, reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals/policy.
- Working knowledge of workforce development programs and resources.
- Excellent outreach, relationship-building, and networking skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to understand and work with diverse populations.
- Ability to adapt to workload fluctuations and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment.
- Physical activity that sometimes requires: lifting up to 10 lbs; travel by car, train and/or air; bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, kneeling and/or twisting.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.
- Must hear, write, and speak English well enough to effectively conduct business over the telephone, computer or face-to-face.
ENVIRONMENTAL EXPECTATIONS
This position requires working indoors most of the time with some occasional travel outdoors for agency events and meetings. The typical workweek is eight (8) hour workdays, five (5) days per week with some occasional weekend work during specific times of the year, as well as longer hours when deadlines warrant.
