Position Overview:

The Plant Engineering Manager is responsible for leading all engineering, maintenance, and technical improvement activities within the manufacturing facility. This role ensures the reliability, efficiency, and safety of plant equipment, infrastructure, and production processes. The Plant Engineering Manager drives continuous improvement initiatives, oversees capital projects, and leads engineering and maintenance teams to support operational performance, cost control, and productivity goals.



Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead and manage plant engineering and maintenance teams to ensure optimal performance of all equipment, systems, and facility infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Oversee installation, commissioning, and optimization of new machinery, equipment, and production lines.
  • Manage capital expenditure projects including budgeting, planning, vendor selection, and execution.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, throughput, and product quality.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues affecting production operations.
  • Collaborate with operations, quality, and supply chain teams to improve manufacturing processes and operational performance.
  • Analyze equipment performance data and implement corrective actions to improve reliability and reduce costs.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, maintenance schedules, and engineering resources.
  • Maintain documentation for equipment, processes, maintenance procedures, and technical standards.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process optimization.



Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of engineering or maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing equipment, plant systems, and maintenance strategies.
  • Experience managing capital projects, equipment installations, and facility improvements.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and managing cross-functional projects.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, compliance standards, and environmental requirements in manufacturing.



Other Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team development capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with CMMS systems, engineering software, and data analysis tools.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.



Physical Demands:

  • Ability to walk production floors and inspect equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that may include noise, machinery, and varying temperatures.
