About This Opportunity
CTI Consulting & Staffing is partnering with a leading aviation instrumentation manufacturer to find a Senior Electrical Design Engineer for their team in Clearwater, Florida. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity with a company that has been building certified avionics products for commercial, military, and business aviation platforms for more than 70 years. This is not a support role — this is a hands-on ownership position working the full hardware design chain in a structured, DO-254 compliant development environment.
What You'll Do
- Translate design requirements into analog and digital board designs, including component selection, simulation, schematic capture, layout review, and documentation
- Develop and execute test procedures for avionics board-level products
- Perform PCB layout reviews using Altium, PADS, or Allegro
- Support system integration to verify board function within the intended avionics platform
- Interface with in-house manufacturing for production test support and troubleshooting
- Execute board design activities within a structured DO-254 / DO-178C compliant development process
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including firmware, manufacturing, and test engineering
- Support customer-facing technical deliverables as needed
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related engineering discipline
- 7+ years of hands-on board design experience for aerospace applications
- Proven ownership of the full design cycle: requirements through schematic capture, component selection, layout, documentation, and test
- Familiarity with DO-254 and DO-178C structured hardware development guidelines
- Experience with PCB layout review using Altium, PADS, or Allegro
- Working knowledge of microprocessor implementation and data/power bus architectures
- Experience supporting system integration within avionics or aerospace platforms
- Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) — proof of status required; this role involves access to export-controlled technology
Nice-to-Have
