Assessment Therapist


Families & Youth Innovations Plus (FYI+)

Position: Full-Time

MA/MS + License Salary: $55,000 - $66,550 (3 levels based on experience and education)

Independent License Salary: $70,000 - $84,700 (3 levels based on experience and education)

FLSA Status: Salaried/Exempt

Reports To: Clinical Manager

Department: Intake, Triage and Assessment


Job Summary

The Assessment Therapist conducts diagnostic mental health assessments and formulates appropriate treatment plans for children, adolescents, and their families based on the family needs and strengths by collaborating with physicians, treatment team members, and adjunctive service providers as necessary to implement patient interventions and achieve treatment goals.

FYI+ is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) Grant Site. Our agency's therapists work with case managers and other support providers to meet participants' basic needs as well as offer therapy, crisis services, and other supportive services.


What You'll Do:

  • Conduct scheduled diagnostic assessments and formulate appropriate treatment plans
  • Provide clinical services to people in crisis as needed
  • Work with the team to determine the appropriate modality and level of care based on assessment
  • Recommend patient interventions based on assessment, patient input, and in conjunction with the treatment plan team
  • Maintain written, accurate, and up-to-date clinical records on individual services and prepare written reports
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, team members, and other staff and service providers regarding client care
  • Ability to work 40 hours weekly within a non-traditional work schedule (8 am to 7 pm)
  • Willingness to travel to other parts of Dona Ana County (in teams of at least two staff members) to assess participants who are unable to attend in person
  • Enthusiasm for working within a CCBHC model and contributing to community-based care


What You Need:

  • Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related field
  • Current New Mexico State Licensure (LMSW, LPCC, LMHC or LMFT, LPC, LAMFT, LSAA), verified in good standing with appropriate licensing board
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and writing skills
  • Bilingual preferred but not required
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Enthusiasm for working within a CCBHC model and contributing to community-based care
