Sanitation Worker

Sparrow Company is searching for a dependable and safety-focused Sanitation Worker to join a food manufacturing team in Las Cruces, NM. This position is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing production equipment, processing areas, and facility workspaces to ensure compliance with food safety regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and company sanitation standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Clean and sanitize food production equipment, machinery, workstations, floors, walls, and other designated areas
• Follow established sanitation procedures and cleaning schedules to ensure compliance with food safety standards
• Disassemble and reassemble equipment for thorough cleaning as needed
• Properly use and handle cleaning chemicals according to safety guidelines and manufacturer instructions
• Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP principles, and company food safety policies
• Maintain accurate sanitation logs and documentation as required
• Inspect equipment and work areas to ensure cleanliness before production begins
• Remove waste and dispose of materials according to company procedures
• Report equipment malfunctions, maintenance concerns, or safety hazards to supervisors
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times
• Work collaboratively with production and quality teams to support efficient operations
• Perform other sanitation and general production duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous sanitation, janitorial, food manufacturing, or production experience preferred
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety standards preferred
• Experience working in a food manufacturing environment is a plus
• Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals and sanitation equipment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and food safety
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to stand, bend, lift, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team
• Flexible to work overtime or weekends as needed
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality standards
