JOB TITLE: MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN

DEPARTMENT: FACILITIES

STATUS: FULL TIME

REPORTS TO: FACILITIES MANAGER / DIRECTOR OF FACILITIES

 

JOB SUMMARY:

 

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment throughout the casino property. This role ensures that gaming floors, hotel areas, kitchens, HVAC systems, and back-of-house operations run safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory and safety standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on mechanical systems, including HVAC, boilers, chillers, pumps, compressors, elevators (as applicable), and kitchen equipment.
  • Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot mechanical failures to minimize downtime and disruption to casino operations.
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance calls on a 24/7 rotating schedule, as required.
  • Maintain and service plumbing, piping, valves, and mechanical controls.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and inspection records.
  • Ensure all work complies with local building codes, OSHA standards, and gaming regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or inspections.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in guest and back-of-house areas.
  • Support special projects, renovations, and system upgrades as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical school or vocational training preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a hotel, casino, resort, or large commercial facility.
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and general mechanical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues under time pressure.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any required gaming license or background clearance.

 

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity to use hand and power tools safely.
