Primary Position Objective
The Credit Reporting Specialist supports AmeriNat's servicing operations by coordinating the accurate and timely submission of borrower loan information to the national consumer credit reporting agencies. This role serves as the primary point of contact for researching and resolving borrower-initiated credit bureau disputes, partnering closely with the servicing teams to confirm account records are complete, current, and properly reflected. The position also assists the Audit and Compliance department in researching and preparing responses to regulator and other external inquiries related to credit reporting practices, contributing to accurate borrower reporting and AmeriNat's overall compliance posture.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate with servicing teams to prepare and submit accurate, timely borrower account information to the national consumer credit reporting agencies in accordance with client, investor, and Metro 2 formatting requirements.
- Review credit bureau reporting files prior to submission to identify and correct data exceptions, formatting errors, and discrepancies in borrower payment history and account status codes.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for researching and resolving borrower-initiated credit bureau disputes, including Automated Consumer Dispute Verifications (ACDVs) submitted through e-OSCAR, communicating outcomes to borrowers and internal teams as needed.
- Research borrower account histories, servicing records, and system data to support dispute resolution, and reconcile reporting discrepancies identified through internal quality control review or bureau feedback.
- Assist the Audit and Compliance department in researching and preparing documentation in response to regulator inquiries, investor requests, and other credit reporting-related inquiries, following established procedures and escalation protocols.
- Utilize servicing and credit reporting systems and tools to maintain accurate records, monitor reporting cycles, and support process improvements that increase efficiency and reporting accuracy.
- Process and respond to disputes received directly from borrowers by mail, phone, or email, in addition to indirect disputes routed through e-OSCAR, working within established regulatory and procedural response timeframes.
- Coordinate with default servicing, loss mitigation, bankruptcy, and collections teams to obtain accurate account status information, such as bankruptcy, forbearance, deceased borrower, charge-off, and paid-in-full statuses, supporting proper credit reporting.
- Redact and retain supporting documentation associated with credit bureau disputes and reporting corrections in accordance with document retention procedures.
- Prepare and review periodic quality control and exception reports, such as monthly sampling and error reports, to monitor credit reporting accuracy across investor portfolios.
- Track dispute volumes, turnaround times, and resolution outcomes, and contribute accurate data to management reporting compiled by others.
- Maintain current knowledge of credit reporting regulations, Metro 2 formatting standards, and credit bureau requirements through ongoing training.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

- Escalate matters involving unusual circumstances, procedural uncertainty, client-specific issues, or potential risk exposures to management.
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience in loan servicing, credit reporting, collections, or a related financial services role.
- Prior experience with consumer credit reporting, Metro 2 formatting, e-OSCAR, and credit bureau dispute resolution strongly preferred.
- Ability to follow established procedures, documented workflows, and client-specific requirements.
- Working familiarity with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and Regulation V preferred; ability to follow documented procedures for dispute handling and escalate matters requiring legal or compliance interpretation.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with borrowers, clients, vendors, and internal team members, as applicable to the role.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to interpret written instructions, procedures, reports, and servicing documentation.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Experience using loan servicing systems such as ICE MSP or Nortridge (NLS), or other financial services technology platforms, preferred.
- Strong comfort level with technology and ability to learn new systems efficiently.
- Bilingual English/Spanish considered a plus, when relevant to the role.
