Reports To: Restaurant Manager

Department: Food and Beverage

Role: The Food Server provides an exceptional dining experience by delivering prompt, courteous, and professional service in a luxury hotel and casino setting. This role ensures that all food and beverage orders are taken accurately and served in a timely manner, adhering to company and department standards while creating a refined and welcoming atmosphere for guests. Adheres to all Company, Safety and Department policies and procedures. Fosters teamwork and provides excellent guest service, anticipates guest needs to exceed guest expectations.   Builds brand loyalty by living the JW Marriott Core Values.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience: 
    • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in upscale or fine dining service within a luxury hotel, resort, or casino environment.
    • Strong knowledge of food and beverage service standards, wine pairings, and cocktail presentation.
    • Experience with POS systems and cash handling.
    • Previous experience in guest-focused roles with high attention to detail and personalized service preferred.
  • Skills: 
    • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a polished, professional demeanor.
    • Ability to anticipate guest needs and provide personalized service.
    • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced luxury setting.
    • Knowledge of upscale menu items, wine pairings, and specialty cocktails.
    • Ability to maintain composure under pressure and resolve guest concerns gracefully.
  • Required: 
    • Must be 21 years of age.

 

Required Work Cards needed:

  • Valid Clark County Health Card
  • Valid Las Vegas Alcohol Awareness Card (TAM Card)

 

Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Greet guests warmly and present menus with detailed knowledge of offerings.
  • Take food and beverage orders accurately and make recommendations for premium selections.
  • Serve food and drinks promptly, ensuring presentation meets luxury standards.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction and respond to requests promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of service areas.
  • Handle payment transactions accurately and securely.
  • Collaborate with kitchen and bar staff to ensure timely and accurate order delivery.
  • Uphold all health, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Work is performed in a (type of location, i.e., office, kitchen, restaurant, casino, etc.) environment and in other locations throughout the property.  Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination and air quality.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  When on the casino floor, the noise level increases too loud. Additionally, smoking is permitted in casino areas consistent with Nevada state regulations, which are followed by the employer.

 

  • Interacts with management, fellow Associates and/or guests.
  • Ability to verbally communicate effectively with guests and coworkers
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (five hours or more).
  • Ability to lift and carry trays up to 30 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, upscale environment.
  • Requires transporting, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering items weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Requires eye/hand coordination.  
  • May require use of standard office equipment. (Micros System)  
  • May require basic math with the ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.   
  • Ability to and comply with Policies and Procedures, Job Description, daily memorandums, chemical labels (SDS) and other instructions. 
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals
