Position Title: Guest Room Attendant (GRA)

Reports To: Housekeeping Floor Supervisor

Department: Housekeeping

Shift: Day, Swing and Graveyard

 

Role: The Guest Room Attendant is responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining all guestrooms in accordance with JW Marriott standards, ensuring both quality and efficiency. This role requires consistently performing all job duties to meet or exceed departmental expectations. Adheres to all Company, Safety and Department policies and procedures. Fosters teamwork and provides excellent guest service, anticipates guest needs to exceed guest expectations. Builds brand loyalty by living the JW Marriott Core Values.


Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience: Previous housekeeping experience in a hotel, resort, or similar environment
  • Skills: 
    • Effective verbal communication skills to interact professionally with guests, supervisors, and co‑workers.
    • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and consistently.
    • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate and organized written records.
    • Proficiency in safely operating standard cleaning chemicals and equipment, following all safety guidelines.
    • Time‑management and organizational skills to complete assigned rooms efficiently and meet productivity standards.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing positively to a team environment.
    • Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform repetitive cleaning tasks throughout the shift.
    • Commitment to cleanliness and guest satisfaction, ensuring all rooms meet brand standards.
  • Required: 
    • Must be able to speak and understand basic English to ensure safe performance of job duties and effective communication with guests and team members, as permitted

Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Clean and service each assigned guestroom in accordance with established cleanliness and presentation standards.
  • Change linens and properly make beds to brand specifications.
  • Thoroughly clean and sanitize all bathroom areas, including showers, shower doors, walls, mirrors, tubs, toilets, sinks, faucets, counters, cabinets, shelves, and floors; empty trash and clean trash receptacles.
  • Replenish all standard bathroom amenities and supplies, including towels, toiletries, and paper products.
  • Dust all room surfaces and fixtures, including furniture, artwork, mirrors, vents, drawers, and similar items.
  • Ensure all electronics are functioning properly, such as televisions, clock radios, telephones, remote controls, hair dryers, irons, and other in‑room devices.
  • Clean and restock the minibar or coffee setup, including coffee, sugar, creamers, and related supplies.
  • Vacuum carpets thoroughly and inspect under beds, behind nightstands, and behind drapes for cleanliness and items.
  • Report all lost‑and‑found items to the Housekeeping Coordinator in accordance with established procedures.
  • Report any missing items (e.g., iron, hair dryer, clock radio, coffee maker, keyboard) for investigation and appropriate guest charges if applicable.
  • Notify leadership of rooms with “Refuse Service,” late checkouts, or “Do Not Disturb” status to obtain replacement rooms and meet daily credit requirements.
  • Report maintenance issues, including but not limited to lights not working, doors not closing properly, leaks, broken furniture, missing or damaged hangers, hair dryers, irons, or remote controls.
  • Clean, organize, and restock housekeeping carts and storage areas in the assigned section.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including keeping guestroom doors closed during service, using proper lifting and carrying techniques, and following chemical safety and PPE guidelines.
  • Complete all assigned rooms each shift in accordance with departmental productivity and quality standards.
  • Provide turndown service as needed or when requested by guests or management.

Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination and air quality. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases too loud. Additionally, smoking is permitted in casino areas consistent with Nevada state regulations, which are followed by the employer.

  • Interact professionally and courteously with management, fellow associates, and guests.
  • Communicate effectively in verbal interactions with guests and coworkers.
  • Sustain prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the shift.
  • Perform frequent bending, reaching, and other physical movements required for room cleaning.
  • Transport, push, pull, and maneuver carts and equipment weighing up to 80 lbs.
  • Lift and carry items weighing up to 80 lbs. as needed.
  • Maintain coordination of eyes and hands to safely and efficiently perform cleaning tasks.
  • Operate standard housekeeping tools, equipment, and cleaning machinery.
  • Apply basic math skills for inventory counts and supply handling.
  • Read and accurately distinguish letters, numbers, symbols, labels, and written instructions.
  • Understand and comply with all Policies and Procedures, job expectations, daily memos, chemical labels (MSDS/SDS), and safety guidelines.
  • Work safely with and around cleaning chemicals, following all proper handling and PPE protocols.
