SUMMARY:

The M.R.I. Technologist performs Magnetic Resonance Imaging under the direction of the Chief/ Lead Technologist, Technical Director and/ or Radiologist. May perform other job-related duties as necessary for the efficient operation of SDMI.

MINIMUM SKILLS, ABILITY AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • The Technologist must be specially trained in M.R.I. and have a good understanding of cross-sectional anatomy.  Prior experiences in C.T. or X-ray preferred.
  • A.R.R.T./ ARMRIT required with MRI certification within 12 months.
  • Thorough knowledge of basic principles of Magnetic Resonance.
  • Understand the contraindication of MRI such as, pacemakers, aneurysm clips, etc.
  • Expert in using MRI equipment, positioning and image slice thickness (protocols) for all MRI exams.
  • Thorough knowledge of MRI safety and hazards.
  • Thorough knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
  • Thorough knowledge of plane and solid geometry.
  • Thorough knowledge and skill in utilizing procedural protocols.
  • Basic knowledge and skill in sterile technique.
  • Understanding of RIS and PACS
  • Knows signs/symptoms and protocol for contrast reactions.
  • Know types of contrast to use for patients that do not meet normal criteria.
  • Know how to adjust window to get a diagnostic image.
  • Know how to property use IV needles to give contrast
  • Other duties as assigned.
