JOB PURPOSE

Our Program Driver is responsible for day-to-day deliveries of groceries, meals, and products to clients while serving with dignity and respect. This position works closely with the client intake team and fleet manager to ensure clients receive essential items. This role provides vital communication and feedback on real-time barriers to maintain efficiency and operations to ensure excellent service.

ORGANIZATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

As a mission driven nonprofit organization, all employees are required to contribute to organization wide initiatives that support community impact. This includes participation in up to six Pop Up and Give community events annually. These occur outside of standard business hours and are scheduled on the third Saturday of the month.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Vehicle Operation, Safety, and Compliance

  • Load, unload, prepare, inspect, and operate the delivery vehicle in accordance with organizational requirements
  • Conduct and document required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, including checking overall vehicle safety and functionality
  • Operate delivery vehicles in compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation laws and regulations, and maintain a safe driving record
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including defensive driving practices
  • Monitor vehicle wear and tear and proactively recommend maintenance or repairs as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the vehicle to ensure safe operation and food safety standards
  • Immediately report accidents, unsafe vehicles, or safety concerns to the direct manager

Delivery Execution and Quality Assurance

  • Load, transport, and deliver items to clients in a safe, timely, and efficient manner
  • Review produce and all delivery items prior to distribution to ensure freshness, quality, and accuracy
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of perishable goods during transport
  • Follow assigned routes and schedules while maintaining flexibility to meet operational needs
  • Maintain accurate delivery logs, records, and documentation as required

Client Interaction, Communication, and Organizational Standards

  • Interact directly with clients, including individuals from vulnerable populations, with professionalism, dignity, and respect
  • Provide a high standard of service aligned with The Just One Project's client centered and dignity driven approach
  • Wear Just One Project branded clothing to identify as staff while making deliveries
  • Proactively communicate and provide feedback on daily deliveries, client needs, and service gaps to the Fleet Manager and Client Intake team
  • Adhere to confidentiality standards when handling client information
  • Collaborate with team members to support efficient operations and service delivery
  • Perform other related duties consistent with the scope and purpose of the position

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to operate delivery vehicles safely and efficiently in a variety of conditions
  • Strong knowledge of safe driving practices and traffic laws
  • Ability to complete pre trip and post trip vehicle inspections accurately
  • Ability to follow routes, schedules, and delivery instructions with attention to detail
  • Basic ability to maintain records, logs, and documentation accurately
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to safely load, secure, and transport goods, including perishable food items
  • Ability to identify and address safety concerns and escalate appropriately
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients, staff, and community partners
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accountability
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing respectful, client centered service to individuals from diverse and vulnerable populations
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required
  • 3+ years of professional experience operating delivery vehicles
  • 2+ year of customer service experience
  • Must meet organizational insurability requirements
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid Nevada Food Handler Safety Training Card within thirty days of hire due to required participation in food distribution activities, in accordance with Southern Nevada Health District requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in nonprofit, food distribution, warehouse, or logistics environments
  • Experience working with vulnerable or underserved populations
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and handling practices
  • Familiarity with the Las Vegas area and efficient route navigation

WORK SCHEDULE AND CLASSIFICATION

  • This position is classified as full time, non exempt, and is required to work 40 hours per week. The role is eligible for overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act.
  • Schedule may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays based on operational needs
  • Hours and schedule may vary to support program delivery and community events

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

If the position requires travel to perform essential job duties, the employee must maintain a valid driver's license and meet the organization's insurability requirements. Reliable transportation is required to fulfill travel related responsibilities.

  • Ability to sit, use hands and fingers, talk or hear continually.
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, push, pull regularly and for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch regularly.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, etc. efficiently and on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work in fast paced active environment
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Frequently exposed to various controlled and uncontrolled weather conditions
