Position Summary

Nevada Pediatric Specialists is a locally owned, provider-owned pediatric practice with established locations in both Henderson and Las Vegas, Nevada. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Revenue Cycle Lead (AAPC CPC Required) to serve as a key leader within our Billing and Revenue Cycle Department. This position is ideal for a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) who has demonstrated success in medical billing, coding, staff training, compliance, process improvement, and healthcare operations.

We are looking for more than simply a biller.

We are seeking a trusted leader and operational partner who will work closely with the Revenue Cycle Manager to support billing and coding operations, train and mentor staff, maintain compliance with federal, state, and payer requirements, develop and manage SOPs, and help drive continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Revenue Cycle Operations

  • Assist with oversight of daily billing operations
  • Monitor claim status, denials, appeals, and aging accounts
  • Identify trends impacting reimbursement and revenue
  • Support payer communication and issue resolution
  • Assist with accounts receivable follow-up activities

Coding & Compliance

  • Review coding accuracy and documentation compliance
  • Provide coding guidance to providers and staff
  • Assist with internal audits and quality reviews
  • Maintain knowledge of payer regulations and industry changes
  • Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and payer requirements

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA, HITECH, CMS, OIG, and other applicable federal healthcare regulations.
  • Maintain working knowledge of Nevada Medicaid billing requirements and payer-specific policies.
  • Monitor compliance with documentation, coding, billing, and reimbursement guidelines.
  • Assist with internal audits, compliance reviews, and corrective action planning.
  • Identify compliance risks and recommend appropriate workflow improvements.
  • Support provider and staff education related to regulatory updates and billing requirements.
  • Promote departmental accountability, confidentiality, and ethical business practices.

Leadership & Training

  • Train and onboard billing and front office staff
  • Provide ongoing coaching and development
  • Assist with employee performance accountability
  • Serve as a resource for workflow and process questions

SOP & Process Management

  • Create, update, and maintain departmental SOPs
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies and recommend solutions
  • Lead process improvement initiatives

Administrative Support

  • Support accounts payable functions
  • Assist with credentialing and administrative projects
  • Collaborate with department managers and providers
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Active AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential
  • Minimum 3 years of medical billing experience
  • Minimum 2 years of coding experience
  • Experience leading, training, mentoring, or supervising staff
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • CPT
    • ICD-10
    • HCPCS
    • Medical necessity requirements
    • Denials and appeals management
    • Revenue cycle workflows
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules.
  • Knowledge of CMS, Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial payer billing regulations.
  • Experience applying federal and state healthcare compliance standards in daily operations.
  • Knowledge of Nevada Medicaid policies, authorization requirements, and billing guidelines.
  • Experience participating in coding audits, compliance reviews, or quality assurance initiatives.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical billing and coding practices.
