What You’ll Do

Foster Care & Adoptions Practice

  • Complete all case management responsibilities associated with the foster care and adoption programs including:

    • Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality records in our CCWIS (OASIS) using Beam Notes & COMPASS
    • Coordinating & participating in Family Partnership Meetings, Child & Family Team Meetings, VEMATs, FAPT meetings and other collaborative processes to support youth in care

    • Use a trauma-informed and child-centered approach in all interactions, completing trauma screenings and CANS assessments 
    • Participating in court proceedings through filing petitions, service plans, progress and other court reports and providing testimony in court proceedings

    • Conducting trauma screenings & CANS assessments

  • Participate in unit, division, agency & community meetings related to the work of the Department

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide child welfare on-call coverage approximately 14 nights annually (when fully staffed) 
  • Participate in shelter team operations during emergency response activations 
  • Assist with additional assignments and special projects as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Four (4) year baccalaureate degree in a relevant human services field in accordance with VA Code § 63.2-219; and Experience: Three (3) years of relevant social work experience; OR, ANY equivalent combination of four (4) year baccalaureate degree, experience and training which provides the necessary knowledge skills and abilities.
