POSITION SUMMARY:

TheĀ Hemodialysis Technician performs technical duties in the dialysis unit under the supervision of the Dialysis Nursing Supervisor and/or Team Leader; performs assigned tasks independently and efficiently after instruction from medical professionals; responsible for specific areas of the dialysis treatment including preparation of equipment and safety devices, monitoring of vital signs during treatment process, observation of patient for adverse symptoms, documentation of assigned duties, and other tasks deemed necessary and appropriate for the overall efficiency of the dialysis unit.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum requirements include high school diploma or equivalent; previous medical or surgical experience is preferred; on-the-job training in a clinical setting under the supervision of medicalĀ professionals including successful completion and passing of Hattiesburg Clinic Dialysis Units’ Hemodialysis Technician Program Certification; ability to use a variety of physical motions in day-to-day activity including standing, bending, turning, stooping, lifting and climbing; ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time without experiencing fatigue;Ā  assist with lifting patients and preparing equipment such as beds, chairs, etc.;Ā  demonstrates ability to perform a variety of tasks with efficiency and accuracy;Ā  tact and patience in dealing with chronically ill patients and their families;Ā  willingness to accept supervision from medical professionals and function as part of the dialysis team.
