Student Care and Case Manager
Full-time, 12-Month, Exempt Position

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Student Care and Case Manager plays a critical role in supporting student well-being, retention, and success by coordinating care for students experiencing academic, personal, behavioral, or mental health challenges. This position provides holistic case management services, including assessment, intervention, referrals, and ongoing support. The Case Manager collaborates with campus partners to ensure a coordinated and student-centered approach to care. This position serves a diverse and dynamic student body of approximately 1,000 students, including both traditional undergraduate learners and a significant population of graduate and working adult students enrolled in flexible on-campus and online programs. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Student Services & University Development.Â
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Â
- Provide individualized case management for students of concern, including intake, assessment, action planning, and follow-up.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for students facing complex or multifaceted challenges.
- Monitor student progress and coordinate care plans to promote academic persistence and personal well-being.
- Connect students with appropriate campus and community resources, including counseling, health services, academic support, housing, and financial assistance.
- Facilitate communication and coordination among faculty, staff, and external providers while maintaining confidentiality standards.
- Maintain detailed, accurate, and confidential case records in compliance with institutional and legal requirements.
- Manage support services for students receiving accommodations in the educational and residential settings and ensure compliance with section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and ADA.
- Serve as the primary coordinator of support to students in distress or crisis and their parents. As appropriate initiate campus threat assessment protocols;Â
- Respond to urgent student situations, including mental health crises, behavioral concerns, and safety-related issues.
- Conduct risk assessments and determine appropriate intervention strategies including initiating a meeting of the behavior intervention team.
- Serve in on-call rotation being on call approximately 25% of the time
- Serve as committee chair for the exceptions to withdrawal policy and point of contact for grievances;
- Implement an effective referral system for student physical and behavioral health needs and maintaining relationships with established care providing partners;
- Implement campus programming and present workshops to address student well-being including stress management, addressing behavioral patterns, and addressing student needs proactively
- Implement student needs assessment practices and serve as an advocate for student needs
- Develop rapport with the student body
- Educate faculty and staff on recognizing and responding to students in distress.
- Manage data collection, production, and distribution of Alcohol Biennial Review, Campus Sexual Violence Climate Report, and Disability Services Report,and all annual notices related to the previous, etc…
- Assist the Title IX coordinator with investigation, adjudication, and supportive response to students;
- Implement and manage training for students to meet Title IX requirements
- Serve on campus committees

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:Â
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, higher education, or related field
- 3+ years’ professional experience case management, student services, counseling or related area
- A demonstrated commitment to a student centered, student directed campusÂ
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations and complex student needs
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and crisis response skills
- Knowledge of student development theory and best practices in higher education
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- A valid driver’s license
- A successful background checkÂ
Preferred
- Master's degree in counseling, social work, higher education, or a related field
- Experience in higher education case management or behavioral intervention teams
- Training in threat assessment, trauma-informed care, or mental health first aid
- 5+ years’ professional experience case management, student services, counseling or related area
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Â
Requires sitting, standing and walking occasionally for extended periods of time, and repetitive motions for operating computer mouse and keyboard. Requires ability to push, pull, bend, grasp, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Requires ability to hear and speak to effectively communicate on the telephone, in the online learning environment, and in person. Visual demands: viewing computer monitor and reading.Â
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary $73,000 to $78,000 per year
