Job Summary

Responsible for collecting, reviewing, and entering data into the Trauma and Stroke Registries. Assists with quality review, performance improvement initiatives, reporting, data analysis, charge review, and registry compliance activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Licensed Practical Nurse with at least one year of experience.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Self-motivated with strong time management skills.
  • Flexible with job duties and responsibilities.
  • Experience in information systems management preferred but not required.
  • Working knowledge of data processing systems and data analysis preferred but not required.
  • Ability to review charts for quality improvement opportunities.
  • Ability to review and correct charges for billing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with trauma and/or stroke registries.
  • Quality improvement or performance improvement experience.
  • Healthcare data analysis and reporting experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify and enter eligible patients into the Stroke and Trauma Registries.
  • Provide trending, benchmarking, and comparative reports.
  • Complete monthly trauma and stroke reports.
  • Provide feedback regarding registry and reporting data needs.
  • Review current literature and reference materials for trauma program support.
  • Conduct medical record audits for performance improvement.
  • Review and correct charges for billing accuracy.
  • Assist with emergency department supply ordering as needed.
  • Create graphs and summaries to present data findings.
  • Assist with state audits and registry compliance reviews.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Organize and prioritize workflow to ensure timely completion of reporting requirements.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of registry data.
  • Collaborate with the ED Director, Nurse Manager, Trauma Coordinator, and Stroke Coordinator.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all activities.
  • Support performance improvement initiatives and departmental goals.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while reviewing records and entering data.
  • Frequent computer use and visual concentration.
  • Occasional walking, standing, bending, and lifting of office supplies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
