Financial Accountant

Laurens Electric Cooperative (LEC) is seeking a Financial Accountant to join our accounting team in Laurens, South Carolina. LEC is a member-owned electric cooperative in Upstate South Carolina. Founded in 1939, the co-op employs 150 people and provides electric service to more than 64,000 residential, commercial, and industrial consumers in Laurens, Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, Abbeville, Newberry, and Union counties.

This role involves overseeing the financial aspects of the cooperative's operations, ensuring accuracy and integrity in financial reporting, and providing valuable insights to aid decision-making processes.


Salary Range: Entry: $70,963 Target: $86,815 annually



Location: Laurens. SC – 100% onsite



Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide complete and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP, RUS Uniform System of Accounts, and policies of the cooperative.
  • Perform daily reconciliation of bank accounts to ensure accuracy and consistency in financial records.
  • Prepare daily reconciliation reports for aging accounts, ensuring accuracy of records.
  • Review and prepare monthly financial statements for board of directors, management, and other financial statement users.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Analyze financial data and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information and support their financial needs.



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
  • 2+ years of experience in financial accounting
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and reporting standards
  • Exceptional analytical skills with keen attention to detail
