Job DetailsJob Location: Lavonia, GA 30553Steelworks LLC is a single-source steel fabricator and construction firm providing a full range of design, engineering, and fabrication. Operated with AISC standards in fabrication along with our complete in-house capabilities, enables fast response, maximum flexibility and complete coordination of all phases of any project. Our state-of-the-art facility includes sophisticated robotic equipment, in-house detailing, blasting and painting, including finish coatings. POSITION SUMMARY Machine Operator at Steelworks are responsible for cutting the part members for the steel packages for fabrication.  They will be issued nest lists that state which material types. Thickness, and lengths to be cut.  After cutting the parts are then stacked on pallets for order pulling.  After a Machine Operator is properly trained, they will then be trained on various other machines in the shop.  If any downtime occurs, machine operators will be assigned various tasks in the shop.   REQUIREMENTS Ability to read and interpret a tape measure Able to identify various types and sizes of materials Must learn how to read a “Steel book” and interpret   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Ability to operate multiple forklift types – Sit down, Combi-Lift Able to listen and prioritize several projects at once Must have own personal hand tools (list provided) Must be able to learn and operate all shop machinery Must be proficient with an overhead crane   MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Team Player with solid communication skills. Basic computer skills (Microsoft suite) Problem solving skills Observe company safety policy while working QualificationsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb and crawl over and under fabricated materials. Work extensive hours in a semi and non-climate environment.
