As we continue to grow, we are seeking a responsible and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Maintenance Electrician in our Lawrence, KS location.

 

Responsible for performing a variety of technical duties relating to electrical systems, preventive maintenance, and fabrication functions in a production environment. The differences between classifications are the level of mastery of the essential functions, the degree of supervision required when performing these functions, and the amount of lead direction provided to others.

 

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Works under general supervision, independently performing essential functions at an adequate level.
  • Troubleshoots equipment issues in a production environment.
  • Plans, lays out, installs, and repairs wiring circuits in conformance with established codes.
  • Installs, troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs electronic controls requiring advanced technical knowledge.
  • Diagnoses and remedies electrical problems utilizing wiring diagrams and schematic drawings.
  • Works from oral and written instructions.
  • Understands and complies with all parts ordering and issuing procedures.
  • Maintains adherence to company policy, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.
  • Assumes other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

THE MOST IMPORTANT ACTIVITIES PERFORMED:

  • Diagnose complex equipment failures.
  • Performs preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Install and rearrange equipment.
  • Runs conduit and size wiring
  • Data communication wiring
  • Installation of electrical controls
  • General maintenance, and construction.

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift 45 lbs. unassisted with or without reasonable accommodation, continuously and frequently overhead. Lifting of more than 45 lbs requires team lifting of at least 2 people.  
  • Continuously and/or frequently required to lift, carry, push, or pull objects ranging from 45 lbs. to 80 lbs. Weights over 45 lbs. require teamwork of at least 2 people. 
  • Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time (8-12 hours daily). 
  • Must be able to move about the manufacturing floor safely and efficiently. 
  • Bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs and/or ladders may be required for specific work tasks. 
  • Ability to perform tasks that require using hands, wrists, and fingers. 
  • Ability to work in loud, fast paced industrial environment. 
  • Manual dexterity and hand to eye coordination with hand/power tools. 
  • Mathematical and measuring skills required for quality checks and basic equipment adjustments -- equivalent to that of a carpenter or mechanic.  
  • Must be able to work in hot and cold environments.  

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED (EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS):

  • High school graduate or equivalent with additional training in electrical technology.
  • Prior experience as a construction or industrial electrician in a production environment.
  • Journeyman level construction or industrial electrician (preferred).
  • Ability to operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and other equipment.
  • Skilled in written communication, read and interpret schematics.
