As a supervisor, you'll help lead daily operations, support your team, and ensure every guest receives friendly service and quality food.  Part-time positions offer flexible scheduling designed to support work-life balance while providing valuable hands-on leadership experience. You'll develop supervisory skills, gain experience in food service operations, and have opportunities to grow within KU Dining.  Pay Rate The anticipated pay for this position starts at $15.10. The final rate will be determined based on qualifications, experience, education, and years within the job or industry.  Schedule This is a part-time position. Operating Hours: Monday through Friday; 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  What We’re Looking For As the Dining Supervisor at The Underground, you will oversee daily operations, ensuring exceptional guest service, food quality, and operational excellence. You will provide frontline leadership by supervising team members, supporting food production and service, maintaining departmental standards, and assisting with opening and closing responsibilities. This position also serves as the manager on duty during assigned shifts when leadership is not present.  What You’ll Do Supervise and coordinate daily operations at The Underground, ensuring efficient service, food quality, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction. Lead, coach, train, and provide daily direction to full-time and part-time employees while fostering a positive and collaborative team environment. Assign workstations, monitor employee performance, and provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback. Assist with food production, merchandising, inventory management, receiving, cash handling, and cost control initiatives. Ensure all food is prepared, displayed, and served in accordance with KU Dining standards, recipes, and food safety requirements. Maintain compliance with SERV Safe standards, HACCP procedures, sanitation requirements, and all applicable health and safety regulations. Maintain clean, organized, and safe dining, production, service, and storage areas while ensuring the facility maintains an inviting appearance. Resolve guest concerns professionally, collect customer feedback, and communicate operational, equipment, and maintenance needs to leadership. Open and close the operation following established procedures and assume operational responsibility during assigned shifts in the absence of the Manager. Enforce departmental policies and procedures and perform other duties as assigned.  Duties & Responsibilities of All KU Memorial Union Positions Adhere to University and KU Memorial Union policies and procedures. Previous food service experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Supervisory experience with the ability to effectively manage and motivate staff. Prior customer service experience. SERV Safe certification preferred.  Physical Requirements This position requires above-average physical activity, including stooping, bending, extensive walking, standing for long periods, and lifting up to 40 pounds. Must be able to work in a commercial kitchen and active serving environment while following all safety and sanitation guidelines.  Ready to Apply?
