We are seeking an experienced leader to serve as the Director of Perioperative Services at Banner North Colorado Medical Center. In this key leadership role, you will oversee a high‑performing team that includes Associate Directors and Operational Support within the departments of RN Intraoperative Services, RN Perianesthesia, Sterile Processing, and Surgery Scheduling.
This position requires strong clinical leadership in a fast‑paced surgical environment. Because Banner North Colorado Medical Center is a Level II Trauma Center, candidates must bring prior experience in a Level I or II trauma setting, along with 5–7 years of progressive leadership experience within perioperative or operating room departments.
This is a full‑time, salaried role primarily working Monday–Friday. Some evening, weekend, and leadership call responsibilities are part of the position.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the direction of business operations of a facility perioperative services department(s). Tracks and manages budgets to review utilization and expenditures ensuring operational efficiency and revenue growth. Develops and implements strategies for the clinical care of a defined group of patient care/clinical area. May also have responsibility for non-clinical functions related to the clinical area(s). Plans and implements vision for patient care to ensure quality outcomes and a high degree of patient, physician and employee satisfaction
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Leads perioperative services for one or more Banner hospitals with oversight for intraoperative, peri-anesthesia, pre-admission testing, and sterile processing departments. Scope may also include endoscopy and other procedural areas as determined by the hospital. Manages 24/7 operations as well as specialized call teams as required.
2. Drives hospital operational and financial performance, achieving key patient access and efficiency targets such as turnaround time, on time starts, preference card utilization, supply cost, block management, budget, and schedule optimization. Partners with operational and nursing leaders to ensure throughput of surgical and procedural patients, along with ensuring appropriate staffing resources are available for cases (i.e. – rad techs/IR techs).
3. Accountable for quality of care and ensures patient safety, infection prevention, quality, regulatory, and compliance policies are properly implemented, monitored and enforced, in partnership with CNO (if a professional service background). Partners with the Chairs of Surgery, Anesthesia, and Medical Directors to ensure patient safety, clinical standardization, and operational objectives.
4. Oversees perioperative capital planning, including evaluating and budgeting for equipment refresh and new technology to meet operational needs.
5. Leads service line and specialty program growth, development and advises on the planning and expansion of surgical and procedural services.

6. Oversees competency-based training and education to staff within specialized areas, including trauma, cardiac, neuro, orthopedic, robotic surgery, transplant, Peds-NICU). Responsible and accountable to the various roles and competency requirements for staff members within the departments.

7. Actively participates in design and implementation of perioperative quality and safety initiatives to improve care across the system.

8. Partners with Banner affiliated ambulatory surgery centers to improve patient access to the appropriate level of care.

9. Ensures vendor accountability and partnership to ensure compliance with contracts while ensuring surgeon preferences are being met in conjunction with cost effectiveness.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a level of business and clinical knowledge as normally obtained through the completion of a Master's Degree in business administration, health services administration or related field. Â

Requires a level of knowledge and ability normally achieved by a minimum of 5-7 years of progressive management experience. Must have the ability to foster and inspire a collaborative work environment; guide and motivate physicians, peers, management, and subordinates; and build strong relationships of trust. Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to be assertive and approachable. Must be hard-working, self-motivated, and results oriented.
