Job Summary: 

  • Assist in the preparation of the consolidated 10-K and 10-Q, associated workpapers, other stand-alone financial statements and various other analyses in support of the Financial Reporting function at NRG.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings such as Forms 10-Q and 10-K, including preparation of workpaper support for financial statements, footnotes, management discussion and analysis, and external auditor compliance checklists
  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual stand-alone financial statements
  • Utilize financial reporting software to create, maintain and update reporting templates and data queries
  • Actively research new and existing accounting guidance to ensure compliance with GAAP and SEC rules, including preparation of documentation for appropriate accounting and disclosure of complex business transactions and events
  • Support various aspects of the external audit, including managing audit requests to ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements
  • Document internal control procedures and assist internal audit with periodic testing to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act and controls pertaining to financial reporting process
  • Assist with special projects involving financial deliverables and ad hoc reporting, as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Working Conditions:

  • Open office environment
  • Hybrid work schedule, 4 days in the office (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)
  • Some overtime may be required to meet quarterly and annual reporting deadlines

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Three to five years of experience demonstrating a working knowledge of accounting and reporting principles
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and SEC reporting rules and regulations
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel, and computer savvy with respect to general ledger and reporting software 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Public accounting experience and CPA preferred
  • Knowledge of SAP, HFM, and Wdesk preferred
  • Three years of SEC reporting experience
  • Energy industry experience preferred

  • Strong analytic abilities

The base salary range for this position is: $85,760 - $104,480* *The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonus, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition the position may be eligible to participate in the benefits program which include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending accounts.
