Job Description

Job Title – Position Description: Surgical Services Representative I - Certified Medical Assistant 

Reports to: Manager Surgical Services

MISSION

The Surgical Services Representative I is responsible for contacting all patients with an upcoming surgical procedure to review an in-depth medical history and provide pre-surgical instructions. They must possess an enhanced attention to detail to ensure optimal patient outcomes and safety. 

OUTCOMES

  • Accurately and effectively utilize clinical knowledge to appropriately identify and assess patient history, medications, and potential risks associated with undergoing a surgical procedure in an ambulatory surgery center (ASC).
  • Possess emotional intelligence to offer support and reassurance to patients prior to their procedure. 
  • Understand practice dynamics in order to efficiently direct patient questions for optimal response. 
  • Ensure optimal customer service by utilizing feedback provided by quality assurance reviews to enhance patient experience.
  • Utilize departmental and interdeparmental resources to determine appropriate actions required in order to satisfy patient need. 
  • Adequately communicate through various electronic sources including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite, EMR, email, and online chat platforms.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED 

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous, Job Relevant Work Experience:

  • Previous experience in Urology/Gynecology field
  • Previous experience in Clinical or Call Center setting            

Credentials/Licensures:

  • Certified Medical Assistant OR
  • Licensed Practical Nurse
