Consumer Retail Loan Officer

Job Summary Description:

Develops and monitors a loan portfolio in existing lending markets through applications generated by Retail Branch locations. Responsible for originating, evaluating, and processing/underwriting consumer loan applications, including personal, auto, savings secured, and other retail lending products. This role ensures compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements while delivering excellent customer service and supporting loan growth objectives within established lending limits which provide maximum profitability to the bank at minimal risk.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitoring loan portfolio and associated deposit account products
• Screening applicants to determine financial eligibility and loan needs 
• Analyze credit reports, income, debt ratios, and other financial information 
• Recommend appropriate loan products and approve/deny credit requests based on customer profile and bank eligibility standards 
• Process and underwrite consumer loan applications in accordance with policies 
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and internal lending regulations 
• Communicate loan decisions clearly to applicant or to referring bank employee/branch 
• Build and maintain relationships with customers to generate repeat business 
• Meet or exceed individual and team loan production goals 
• Monitor loan repayment activities and take necessary action in collection of past due amounts
• Develop new business and cross selling additional services of the bank
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• 2 years’ lending experience or Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or related field 
• Knowledge of credit analysis, underwriting principles, and lending regulations 
• Effective verbal, written, analytical, and independent decision-making skills 
• Collaborative communication and customer service abilities 
• Proficiency in standard office software to include Microsoft Office, Outlook, Adobe
