POSITION SUMMARY:

The Graduate Assistant – Athletic Administration (Game/Events) will provide a hands-on learning experience for an individual interested in pursuing a career in intercollegiate athletic administration. Under the direction of the Assistant Athletic Director – Game Day Operations & Broadcasting, this position will assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of collegiate athletic events and experiences. The successful candidate will possess a strong knowledge and interest in sports, demonstrate effective organizational and interpersonal skills, and maintain a strong commitment to academic excellence.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Assist with the preparation and distribution of athletic visitor guides and materials to opposing teams.
• Assist with all aspects of the USM Golf Classic.
• Assist with the USM Spire Club and Athletic Partnership Program, including the distribution of marketing and promotional materials.
• Assist with game-day management, including on-field and on-court promotions.
• Assist with university and athletic special event planning and execution.
• Provide professional and responsive customer service to fans, guests, student-athletes, coaches, and other constituents.
• Assist with game management protocols, procedures, event setup, and breakdown for all home athletic events.
• Develop knowledge and proficiency in the operation of music, scoreboard, game/play clocks, and public address systems for athletic events.
• Assist with the supervision and coordination of student workers.
• Demonstrate proficiency in USM livestream broadcasting operations or the ability to learn broadcasting software, including but not limited to NewTek TriCaster, BlueFrame Production Truck, and Stretch Internet/Wirecast.
• Develop knowledge and proficiency in livestream broadcasting crew responsibilities, including camera operation, graphics, instant replay, play-by-play, color commentary, and other production roles.
• Maintain professional and ethical conduct at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned by athletic administration staff.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Must meet eligibility requirements for the University of Saint Mary Graduate Assistantship Program, including acceptance and enrollment in a University of Saint Mary graduate program.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to successfully complete required background screening, as applicable.
• Knowledge of NAIA and KCAC competition rules and guidelines preferred.
• Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by athletic events and departmental needs.
