POSITION SUMMARY:

Serve as an Assistant Coach for the University of Saint Mary Wrestling program while participating in the Graduate Assistantship program at USM.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with the conduct, discipline, and positive character development of student-athletes by following the guidelines and principles of the USM Mission and the NAIA Champions of Character initiative.
  • Assist student-athletes with personal development and academic success.
  • Teach and promote the USM Mission values of community, respect, justice, and excellence.
  • Assist with the recruitment and retention of quality student-athletes.
  • Perform wrestling coaching duties as determined by the Head Wrestling Coach, including practice, competition, and individual/position instruction.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of wrestling practices, conditioning, and other team activities.
  • Assist with inventory management, distribution, and collection of equipment and uniforms.
  • Work with the Athletic Department in sport promotions, fundraising, community engagement, and recruitment efforts.
  • Assist with USM Athletic Department game, meet, and event management.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable NAIA and KCAC rules and regulations.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned. 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 2–3 years of related coaching, wrestling, or athletic experience preferred.
  • Working and/or playing knowledge of NCAA, NAIA, or KCAC rules and regulations preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel as required by athletic events and departmental needs.
  • Ability to lift 30–50 lbs. and sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to successfully complete required background screening, as applicable.
  • Affinity for and commitment to the mission of the University of Saint Mary.
  • Must meet eligibility requirements for the USM Graduate Assistantship Program, including acceptance into one of the University of Saint Mary’s graduate programs.
     

Graduate Assistant Coaches receive a comprehensive benefits package, including 50% tuition remission, a meal plan (5 meals per week), and a stipend of $480 per semi-monthly pay period. Benefits are contingent upon acceptance into the graduate program and adherence to all terms outlined in the Graduate Assistantship Agreement.
