What You'll Do
As a Paper Supply Specialist , you'll help keep our web offset printing presses supplied with paper and running smoothly by:
- Inspecting rolls of paper for tears, blemishes, or other damage and removing damaged areas.
- Loading paper rolls onto the press's automatic splicing unit.
- Securing rolls in place and threading paper through press components.
- Preparing backup rolls with adhesive strips for continuous press operation.
- Removing leftover paper rolls after automatic splicing.
- May operate mechanical truck or similar equipment to transport paper rolls to the press area.
- May assisting with press make-ready tasks, such as hanging plates, preparing and installing blankets, and adjusting tension.
- Cleaning the press and installing or cleaning press components to keep equipment in good working order.
- Preparing and loading flat stock into a sheet-fed press when needed.
- Following safety procedures and working collaboratively with the Press team.
- Completing other duties and special projects as assigned.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who:
- Has general knowledge of offset press procedures and materials, or is eager to learn through hands-on training.
- Can follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Can solve routine problems involving a few clear variables.
- Can read, copy, and record numbers accurately.
- Can perform basic addition and subtraction.
- Can read and follow job specifications to identify the materials needed for each job.
- Has mechanical aptitude and can learn to adjust an automatic splicer.
- Pays close attention to detail and takes pride in producing quality work.
- Works well with others and contributes to a positive team environment.
Bonus Points If You Have
- Experience with web offset printing operations.
- Knowledge of paper, press materials, and production requirements.
- Experience loading paper rolls and preparing splices for continuous press operation.
- Experience adjusting or troubleshooting automatic splicing equipment.
Physical & Work Environment
This is an active, hands-on manufacturing role that includes:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.Â
- Standing on concrete floors 8-12 hours per shift
- Walking, carrying, bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching.
- Working around machinery moving at high productions speeds.
- Must be able to tolerate loud noise levels and occasional exposure to atmospheric conditions and other environmental factors.
- Constant use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required due to the nature of the work environment.Â
