The ideal Sr. Project Engineer can hit the ground running, manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision, play a critical role in keeping projects organized, on schedule, and moving forward.  You will understand complex electrical construction projects within the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries and excel in document control, procurement, material coordination, and project administration.

Position Summary

The Project Engineer supports the Project Manager throughout the project lifecycle by coordinating document control, procurement, material management, construction documentation, and project controls. The successful candidate understands construction sequencing, prioritizes procurement following approved submittals, and proactively keeps projects on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage project documentation from kickoff through closeout.
  • Coordinate RFIs, submittals, purchase orders, material releases, change orders, and closeout documentation.
  • Prioritize procurement activities immediately following approved submittals.
  • Coordinate with vendors, fabrication facilities, subcontractors, field supervision, and project management.
  • Review construction drawings and specifications to identify procurement requirements and project risks.
  • Ensure procurement aligns with construction sequencing and installation schedules.
  • Maintain accurate project records and support budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Support multiple concurrent projects while maintaining exceptional organization and accuracy.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum 7+ years of Project Engineering experience supporting electrical construction projects.
  • Experience supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, industrial manufacturing, or other highly regulated construction projects.
  • Strong experience with document control, procurement, material coordination, and project administration.
  • Ability to independently manage responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Experience processing RFIs, submittals, purchase orders, material releases, and change orders.
  • Strong understanding of procurement workflows, project controls, and construction sequencing.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting GMP/cGMP manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with cleanroom construction and FDA-regulated facilities.
  • Experience coordinating procurement and documentation within highly regulated construction environments.

Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong procurement and purchasing workflow knowledge.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with a strong sense of urgency.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel
  • ERP/Purchasing Software

Education

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred. Equivalent industry experience will be considered.
