Facilities - Facilities Engineer

Responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant facilities and utilities. This role ensures regulatory compliance and supports the Plant Maintenance team and production through optimized infrastructure. The position is responsible for preparing and managing service orders, coordinating and overseeing contractors, and executing capital projects, energy initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts under the direction of the Corporate Facilities Manager.

• Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain fire protection systems, environmental controls, and building code compliance.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks.

  Operational Reliability

  • Provide technical support to the Facilities Supervisor to optimize critical systems (power distribution, HVAC, compressed air, water systems, resin conveying).
  • Monitor and improve system performance using the Building Automation System (BAS).
  • Develop and maintain Facilities Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Execute priorities and initiatives assigned by the Corporate Facilities Manager.

  Capital Projects

  • Support and execute capital projects as directed, including facility expansions, equipment installations, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Utilize AutoCAD to prepare and update facility layouts
  • Utilize Microsoft Project to coordinate schedules and maintain Gantt charts.
  • Track project milestones closely, ensuring adherence to delivery commitments and timelines.
  • Proactively communicate any delays or risks by organizing on-site meetings, Microsoft Teams discussions, and timely email updates to stakeholders.

  Energy & Cost Management

  • Implement energy management strategies established by the Corporate Facilities Manager.
  • Monitor energy consumption and lead efficiency and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Support energy audits, track performance metrics, and pursue incentives and GHG reduction opportunities.

  Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and resolve facility-related issues impacting plant maintenance and ground maintenance infrastructure
  • Analyze operational data to improve reliability, efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Support corporate-driven improvement initiatives, standards, and best practices.

  Vendor & Contractor Management

  • Manage contractors to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and schedule requirements.
  • Prepare RFQs and support tendering processes in alignment with Corporate Facilities Manager direction.
  • Oversee contractor work and ensure proper documentation, reporting, and compliance.

Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering. A master's degree is a plus.

Minimum Experience/Field: At least 3 years of experience as facilities engineer or in a similar role.

Familiarity with energy management standards, such as ISO 50001, and energy-related regulations and incentives.

Certifications in energy management are desirable but not mandatory.

• Working knowledge of building systems, BAS, and AutoCAD.

Knowledge of the building process and construction principles.

Knowledge of relevant regulations and building codes.

Proficiency in conducting energy audits, analyzing energy data, and using energy modeling software.
