What the CTE / Vocational Instructor does: The Career & Technical Education (CTE) / Vocational Instructor provides career readiness, vocational, and project-based instruction that promotes student transition goals, workforce development, and post-secondary success. Working closely with the Program Director, teachers, support staff, families, and community partners, this individual develops and implements engaging hands-on learning opportunities that prepare students for employment and adulthood. Additional responsibilities include: Coordinate with the Program Director regarding Career and Technical Education (CTE), vocational education, transition services, and workforce readiness initiatives. Plan, coordinate, and implement project-based learning experiences that facilitate effective instruction and meet individual student needs. Develop and teach instructional units related to Career and Technical Education (CTE), vocational exploration, workforce readiness, visual arts, culinary arts, and other career-focused programming. Collaborate with teachers and teaching assistants to integrate vocational and work-readiness activities into the overall educational program. Participate in program meetings, professional collaboration activities, and program planning initiatives. Assist with developing partnerships that support student career exploration, community engagement, work-based learning opportunities, internships, and employment readiness. Provide direct instruction to students through hands-on vocational, technical, and project-based learning activities. Supervise students during instructional, vocational, and community-based activities to ensure safety, engagement, and skill development. Support students in developing workplace readiness skills, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, responsibility, organization, and professional behavior. Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and maintain transition-related data and documentation as part of the IEP process. Communicate with parents, PHILLIPS staff, community partners, employers, and outside professionals to support student success and transition goals. Organize and maintain equipment, instructional materials, supplies, and resources required for vocational and project-based instruction. Maintain accurate records related to vocational programming, student participation, and transition activities. What the CTE / Vocational Instructor brings to the team: Bachelor's degree in Education, Career and Technical Education (CTE), Special Education, Workforce Development, Visual Arts, Culinary Arts, Industrial Arts, Construction Trades, or a related field preferred. Valid teaching license and/or relevant industry certification preferred. Experience teaching, mentoring, coaching, or training adolescents or young adults required. Knowledge of transition planning, vocational programming, workforce development, project-based learning, and career readiness instruction preferred. Experience working with students with diverse learning, behavioral, and emotional needs preferred. Strong communication, organizational, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
