Mechanical Solutions Engineer Senior

Overview

BAI, a defense contractor, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 10+ years of experience in Digital Engineering/MBSE and 5 years of mechanical design/analysis experience. The candidate will have over mechanical design, thermal and static analysis, material selection, environmental ruggedization, and payload/platform system safety & integration experience, to work on a program at Point Mugu, CA. Salary

The typical annual salary range for this position is $120,000.00 USD to $170,000.00 USD. Salary will be based on current qualifications, directly related experience, geographic location, and possible contractual requirements which could fall outside of this range.

Responsibilities

• Demonstratable experience in MBSE/Digital Engineering capabilities
• Create mechanical designs and CAD models for payloads and assemblies
• Perform thermal and structural FEA analysis
• Select materials and design for environmental ruggedization
• Support payload integration on platforms including mounts and harness routing
• Produce manufacturing documentation with GD&T and tolerances
• Support vibration, thermal, and environmental testing

Qualifications

• 10 years’ experience as a Mechanical Engineer
• 5 years of mechanical design/analysis experience
• Proficient in CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo
• Experience with FEA tools such as ANSYS, COMSOL
• Experience with thermal analysis and environmental qualification
• Strong knowledge of materials, GD&T, and manufacturing processes

Desired Experience

• Reverse-engineering exposure and solutioning
• Line Replacement Unit, Assembly, and system level Test
• System Safety Engineering
• Participant in a system level engineering effort; System Engineering resource
• Requirements definition

EDUCATION

Degree: BS in Mechanical Engineering (MS preferred) or a relevant technical discipline

CLEARANCE – SECRET

Condition of Employment:  Applicant must be able to be found eligible and sustain an active DoD SECRET Clearance. The applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to controlled and classified information.
