As a Senior Accountant, you will be a vital member of the finance team, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of Ancestry’s financial data. You will partner with leadership to oversee general accounting operations, manage complex financial transactions, and drive the month-end close process. This role is ideal for a proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses a deep understanding of GAAP, and is passionate about delivering precise financial insights that support our mission.
What You’ll Do....
Manage Financial Integrity: Maintain the general ledger and oversee daily accounting operations, ensuring all transactions are recorded, verified, and consolidated with precision.
Lead the Close Process: Drive the month-end and year-end close procedures, preparing essential financial statements, balance sheets, and profit and loss reports.
Drive Compliance & Accuracy: Ensure all financial procedures and records comply with GAAP principles and internal SOX controls.
Execute Complex Reconciliations: Perform high-level balance sheet and bank account reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies to maintain ledger accuracy.
Support Audits & Tax Filing: Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and assist in the preparation of tax returns and regulatory reporting.
Analyze Financial Performance: Conduct variance analysis (Budget vs. Actuals) and research financial indicators to provide management with actionable insights and cost-optimization recommendations.
Optimize Processes: Identify opportunities to enhance accounting procedures, automate workflows, and strengthen internal controls to improve team efficiency.
Collaborate & Mentor: Partner with cross-functional teams on financial initiatives and provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff members.
Strategic Reporting: Create timely, error-free accounting reports and dashboards for executive leadership to support long-term financial strategy.
Who You Are....
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
2–3 years of accounting experience required; CPA-eligible or working toward your CPA is desirable.
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required.
Experience with Oracle, TM1, and Tableau is desirable.
Must be self-motivated, proactive, and highly detail-oriented in your work.
Possesses great verbal and written communication skills to effectively share financial insights.
Preferred Skills & Experience
Active CPA license or candidate for certification.
Experience with automated financial reporting tools and SQL-based analysis.
Prior experience in a technology or subscription-based business model.
Background in managing fixed asset portfolios or complex gift/security transactions.

As a signatory of the ParityPledge in Support of Women and the ParityPledge in Support of People of Color, Ancestry values pay transparency and pay equity. We are pleased to share the base hourly range for this position: $69,840 - $87,653.00 with eligibility for bonus, equity and comprehensive benefits including health, dental and vision.
