Job Description

Job Summary:

Responsible for the safe & quality operation and proficient understanding of loading, unloading, and moving raw materials within or near plant, and regrinds scrap product.  

Specific Responsibilities/Essential Functions

Abides by all Amcor’s Safety and Quality policies and procedures. MUST BE ABLE TO OPERATE A FORKLIFT in a safe, but proficient manner.  Must be able to do so for a 12-hour period. Supply necessary raw materials to production as needed. Must be able to stack finished product in warehouse in a neat manner. Must be flexible and able to work any shift. Must be able and willing to work in a fast-paced environment that can change instantly. Must be able to work safely and in a very tight production area. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Must willingly accept any other duties/changes to position to fit the needs for production as requested by Shift Supervisor. Must wear safety equipment, personal protective equipment, as required in the area or to perform specific job duties.

Job Specifications and Requirements:

Education and Experience

Requires high school diploma or equivalent.  Some post-secondary education preferred (i.e., Technical or Vocational education);

Forklift certification and previous work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to recognize and understand numbers and values and enters this information into an on-line database accurately.  A strong mathematical ability is essential.
  • Ability to visually distinguish fine variations in color and other visual defects.
  • Proficient hand/eye coordination to operate equipment.
  • Ability to visually and mentally make priority decisions and independent judgment calls based on the situation at hand.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively use a computer and related software.
  • Ability to work all shifts and required overtime.

  • New Hire Training (see new hire orientation)
  • Monthly Training (see plant training schedule)
  • SAP Computer Training
  • GMP plant training (internal) - annual
  • HACCP plant training (internal) – annual
  • Glass and Brittle Plastic and Ceramic Fragment Avoidance and Containment Program – annual
  • Food Defense – annual
  • Communicable Disease – annual
  • Forklift certification and/or recertification training based on job duties.

The above requirements and training are not limited to the above and could be one or more depending on job assignment.  Requirements may include all other duties as assigned by management.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to move, lift/push/pull on a continual basis:  this is a physically demanding job as outlined by the U.S. Department of Labor.  Incumbent is required to transport loads from inside and outside warehouses.
