EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS NECESSARY:WWAY, the ABC, CBS and CW affiliate serving beautiful coastal southeastern North Carolina, is looking for an experienced, dynamic evening News Anchor to join our award-winning news team.


We're seeking a journalist who is more than just a presenter. The ideal candidate is a strong storyteller with solid news judgment and a passion for connecting with viewers across broadcast, digital, and social media platforms. You'll join an experienced anchor team and play a key role in delivering impactful local journalism each day.

Responsibilities include:
  • Anchor evening newscasts with professionalism, credibility, and personality
  • Shoot, write, and edit franchise packages
  • Deliver live reports during breaking news and severe weather coverage
  • Write and proofread scripts to ensure accuracy, clarity, and strong storytelling
  • Collaborate with producers, reporters, and newsroom leadership to produce compelling newscasts
  • Help mentor and encourage less-experienced newsroom staff
  • Create and post engaging content for digital and social media platforms
  • Represent WWAY at community events and public appearances
     
Qualifications:
  • Previous professional television news anchoring and reporting experience required
  • Strong live reporting and ad-lib skills
  • Excellent writing, editorial judgment, and communication skills
  • Active and engaging presence on social media
  • Experience with newsroom systems such as ENPS is a plus
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required
