Job Description:Â
Work as member of the PNPN team striving to achieve high standards regarding product quality, inventory accuracy, communication and production efficiency. This position is an integral part of nursery operations. The Propagator is responsible for the collection and propagation of all nursery seed and stock, as well as maintaining the database in which that information is stored. The Propagator takes direction from the Nursery Manager to propagate plants to meet production demand. This is a full-time, year-round position.

Essential Responsibilities
- Quality and inventory control on all propagation material
- Seeding
- Seed harvest & cleaning including off site collection
- Organization within the propagation areas
- Lead production crews as needed to assist with propagation tasks
- Implement and update propagation standard operation procedures and propagation protocols
- Work with the Sectional Grower to produce high quality propagation material and maintain a clean growing environment
- Locate, manage and plant new seed beds/sources

Inventory
- Maintain propagation database and inventory regarding
- Seed inventory including condition and quality
- Seedling inventory including germination, dates, rates and location
- Update seedling inventory weekly
- Data entry for all movements regarding propagation
- Maintain a timeline regarding contract grow crops to report to Sales
- Assist with the development and improvement of the database

Other
- Learn native plant species and their characteristics
- Assist with trials and research & development
- Educate and cross train other team members in plant ID and propagation protocols
- Assist with pulling and preparing orders
- Assist with over-wintering preparation
- All other nursery tasks as needed
Â
- Requirements:
- 2-4 years' experience in horticulture, or an associate's degree in horticulture
- Some knowledge of native plants and their propagation protocol
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficient with Microsoft office
- Valid driver’s license
- Some inventory control skill
- Experience operating mowers, forklifts, and skid steers helpful
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
