Associate Test Engineer

Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is looking for an Associate Test Engineer (Level 2) to join our team in Smithfield and Lemont Furnace, Pennsylvania.

The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of activities related to the testing and validation of electrical and electronic components and systems used in environments from seabed to space. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Position Responsibilities:   

  • Test Planning and Design:

    • Develop detailed test plans and procedures based on engineering specifications and requirements.

    • Design and set up test fixtures, equipment, and instrumentation to conduct tests.

    • Ensure test plans comply with industry standards and safety regulations.

  • Test Execution:

    • Conduct tests on electrical and electronic components and systems, including environmental, and performance testing.

    • Operate and maintain test equipment and instrumentation.

    • Monitor and record test data accurately and efficiently.

  • Data Analysis and Reporting:

    • Analyze test data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement.

    • Prepare detailed test reports, including data analysis, conclusions, and recommendations.

    • Present findings to engineering teams and management.

  • Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:

    • Identify and diagnose issues during testing and develop solutions to address them.

    • Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to resolve technical problems.

    • Implement corrective actions to improve test processes and outcomes.

  • Continuous Improvement:

    • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance test methods, processes, and equipment.

    • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in test engineering.

    • Contribute to the development and implementation of new testing technologies and methodologies.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • 2+ years of experience in Electronics testing

  • Ability and willingness to work outside of standard business hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical / Electronics, Computer, Electro-Mechanical)

  • Experience in mil-std environmental (MIL-STD-810 etc) testing is highly desirable

  • Experience with DITMCO development is highly desirable

  • Experience with Test Plan, Test Procedure and Test Report generation and review is highly desirable

  • Strong technical knowledge of test engineering principles and practices

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality
