Candidates will be required to work in the following areas:
Work with a multi-node GPU cluster to accelerate small signal stability analysis.
Implement and/or integrate numerical linear algebra methods relevant to dynamical systems
Implementation will be using CUDA/HIP or wrappers for these libraries.
Profile and analyze performance, document results, and contribute to reproducible workflows.
Additionally, candidates will:
Give seminars and assist in preparation of journal articles, technical reports, and presentations for conferences and workshops.
Support open-source software development efforts for DOE projects.
Education and Experience Requirements
The entirety of the appointment must be conducted within the United States.
Currently enrolled in a PhD program at an accredited institution.
Graduated from an accredited institution within the past 3 months; or actively enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institution.
Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins.
Must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
If accepting an offer, must pass a screening drug test.
Must complete a satisfactory background check.
Currently pursuing a PhD Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
Strong understanding of linear control theory.
Strong understanding of at least one programming language is preferred.
Familiarity with version control (Git).
Familiarity with CUDA/HIP, either directly or through wrapper libraries.

HourlyThe expected hiring range for this position is $31.28-$46.92.Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, business considerations, internal equity, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
