Candidates will be required to work in the following areas:

  • Work with a multi-node GPU cluster to accelerate small signal stability analysis.

  • Implement and/or integrate numerical linear algebra methods relevant to dynamical systems

  • Implementation will be using CUDA/HIP or wrappers for these libraries.

  • Profile and analyze performance, document results, and contribute to reproducible workflows.
     

Additionally, candidates will:

  • Give seminars and assist in preparation of journal articles, technical reports, and presentations for conferences and workshops.

  • Support open-source software development efforts for DOE projects.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • The entirety of the appointment must be conducted within the United States.

  • Currently enrolled in a PhD program at an accredited institution.

  • Graduated from an accredited institution within the past 3 months; or actively enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institution.

  • Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins.

  • Must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

  • If accepting an offer, must pass a screening drug test.

  • Must complete a satisfactory background check.

  • Currently pursuing a PhD Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.

  • Strong understanding of linear control theory.

  • Strong understanding of at least one programming language is preferred.

  • Familiarity with version control (Git).

  • Familiarity with CUDA/HIP, either directly or through wrapper libraries.
