Lakeview's Physical Therapist Assistant assists in the treatment of residents as directed by the Physical Therapist in order to restore, maintain, or prevent the decline of resident function. Records treatments administered in residents’ medical records and in the department’s daily billing records, in accordance with established procedures. Instructs residents, family, and staff in maintenance programs, as directed by the Physical Therapist. Attends and participates in resident care conferences and rehabilitation departmental meetings. Maintains and continually improves professional competency by attending in-service trainings and utilizing other educational materials. Protects residents and staff by adhering to infection control procedures at all times. Ensures that services are provided at all times in accordance with applicable guidelines, regulations, and standards of practice. Develops and maintains a good working rapport with inter-department personnel and other departments within the facility, to ensure that Therapy Services programs can be properly maintained to meet the needs of facility and residents. Ensures that Resident’s Rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property, and civil rights, including the right to express grievances are followed. Qualifications Must be a graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program and licensed to practice in the State of Kansas. Previous experience working with the elderly is preferred. Demonstrates good communications skills, including but not limited to effective reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills, with a fluent understanding of English.  Possesses an empathetic approach to the elderly. Able to work in a team setting with residents, relatives, staff, and others. Walks to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another. Fingers with whole hand or arm such as picking, pinching or typing; grasp by applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm and feel attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips. Talks to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word accurately, loudly, and/or quickly; and hears sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and has the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.
