Position Overview: Under departmental direction, assists with business growth, contacting clients, creating proposals, maintaining client records and assisting in client outreach efforts; related work as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Assist in identifying and researching prospective clients, including utility companies, cooperatives, and municipalities.
- Support the preparation of bids, proposals, and presentations for potential clients.
- Coordinate meetings, follow-ups, and communications with current and potential customers.
- Conduct industry and market research to support business development strategies.
- Represent the company professionally at networking events and trade shows (as assigned).
- Collaborate with internal teams including estimating, safety, and operations to support project proposals.
- Assist with drafting client communication and marketing materials as needed.
- Provide support for the business development team.
- Work with other departments in organization to define needs and improve business processes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) - preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience with utility construction industry – preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills – required
- Valid commercial driver's license and ability to travel as needed - required.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of utility construction industry, practices, methods, terminology.
- Knowledge and practice of effective business development practices and strategies.
- Knowledge of organizations that support the electrical industry and how those organizations work together.
- Knowledge of computer hardware and related software programs – MS Office suit.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities, pay attention to detail, learn quickly and take initiative.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to research and provide relevant feedback/provide ideas/think innovatively.

- Must be able to effectively communicate with customers, co-workers, and supervision.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Instructions: Instructions are somewhat general; many aspects of the work are covered specifically but must use own judgment in many cases.
Physical Requirements of the Job: Work is typically performed indoors and will involve sitting at a desk or table; work requires intermittent standing, walking, stooping; bending, climbing; reaching, gripping, grasping; must lift objects up to 25 pounds; may be exposed to machines and their moving parts as well as environmental elements on occasion.
Tools, Equipment and Vehicles Used: Normal office equipment, (computer, iPad, printer, telephone, camera, scanner, copy machine, etc.). Must operate vehicle as a requirement of the position as necessary.
Contacts: Frequent internal and external contacts requiring tact and diplomacy.
Availability: My be required to respond to calls in emergency situations at all hours.
Overtime Provision: Exempt.
